Richard Spencer, the white nationalist who organized the deadly “Unite the Right” rally last summer in Charlottesville, is currently being sued by 11 plaintiffs for the trauma they suffered as a result of the chaos and violence that unfolded.
Sadly for him (but not for anyone decent), he can’t afford to pay his lawyer fees and is now begging his supporters to send him $25,000.
He uploaded a 7-minute video to YouTube on Friday in which he claimed that the lawsuit is part of a conspiracy to keep him and other “identitarian” voices silent by draining them of resources.

“I am under attack and I need your help,” he said. “Some of the biggest and baddest law firms in the United States are suing me, along with some other prominent figures, in civil court.”
He urged his followers not to underestimate the “challenge that this lawsuit represents” and described it as “warfare by legal means.”
He added, “It is designed to be debilitating and all-consuming, regardless of the facts of the case and regardless of the ultimate judgement.”
Unsurprisingly, Spencer had a hard time finding a lawyer willing to represent him altogether. The one he’s managed to get has a base fee of $25,000, which is where the funds he raises will supposedly go.
This isn’t the first time Spencer’s had issues with money. HuffPost reported last November that he bounced a $10,564.80 check made out to the University of Florida meant to pay for the rental of their space for a speaking event of his.
