Donald Trump clearly isn’t getting enough sleep. On Tuesday his tweets started shortly after 3 a.m. and they show that the president is losing his grip on reality.
His outrageous tweets constitute a renewed effort on his part to taint the Russia investigation of special counsel Robert Mueller, and to accuse Democrats and the Obama administration of spying on his campaign.
His first tweet read:
“This investigation involved far more surveillance than we ever had any idea about. It wasn’t just a wiretap against a campaign aide…it was secretly gathering information on the Trump Campaign…people call that Spying…this is unprecedented and scandalous.” Mollie Hemingway

Then he wrote:
“The 13 Angry Democrats (plus people who worked 8 years for Obama) working on the rigged Russia Witch Hunt, will be MEDDLING with the mid-term elections, especially now that Republicans (stay tough!) are taking the lead in Polls. There was no Collusion, except by the Democrats!”

And then he found some time for self pity.
“Sorry, I’ve got to start focusing my energy on North Korea Nuclear, bad Trade Deals, VA Choice, the Economy, rebuilding the Military, and so much more, and not on the Rigged Russia Witch Hunt that should be investigating Clinton/Russia/FBI/Justice/Obama/Comey/Lynch etc.”

As Mueller’s noose tightens Trump is losing his mind and is lashing out at the same old targets that he thinks will help him win political points with his supporters. He implies he’s too busy running the country to be bothered with Mueller’s “witch hunt.”
The fact that Trump is still bringing up old enemies like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama shows how desperate he is. Of course, many of his racist and sexist supporters want to hear everything he says, and they believe his off-the-wall rants. Since Trump’s lies and accusations are further spread by right-wing media outlets such as Fox News, there is a danger that Trump’s lies will be believed by enough Americans to keep him in power.
One thing new this morning is that he is accusing the “13 Angry Democrats” of MEDDLING in the midterm elections. This is another example of accusing his opponents of the very things that HE is guilty of. He’s guilty of meddling, so he accuses Democrats of meddling. He’s guilty of collusion so he accuses Hillary Clinton of collusion. He was part of a conspiracy, so he says that the real conspiracy included Obama, Clinton, Comey, and Lynch.
As we get closer to the November elections, and as Bob Mueller gets closer to issuing more indictments, we can expect to hear more and more lies and false accusations from Donald Trump. His goal is to deflect from his own crimes and to score points politically. We have to make sure that he is not successful and that he is held accountable for his wrongdoing before he does even more damage to our democracy.
