Trump Accuses Canada Of Burning Down The White House During Trade War Phone Call Fight

Trump came up with his own fractured version of history to justify his tariffs when told Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that Canada burned down the White House during the war of 1812. (They didn’t.)

CNN reported:

President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had a testy phone call on May 25 over new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration targeting steel and aluminum imports coming from Canada, including one moment during the conversation in which Trump made an erroneous historical reference, sources familiar with the discussion told CNN.

According to the sources, Trudeau pressed Trump on how he could justify the tariffs as a “national security” issue. In response, Trump quipped to Trudeau, “Didn’t you guys burn down the White House?” referring to the War of 1812.

When asked if the comment was received as a joke, one source on the call said: “To the degree one can ever take what is said as a joke. The impact on Canada and ultimately on workers in the US won’t be a laughing matter.”

If the comment was a joke, the Canadians were not laughing.

Trump is not only the worst negotiator in presidential history. He is also a complete know nothing. Trump tries to cover up his lack of knowledge about every issue with “jokes.” Trump is that person who is the least intelligent party in a conversation but who always thinks that they have the upper hand.

The more serious issue is that Donald Trump is serious about his trade war with US allies. He is not backing off. Trump believes that he can turn back the clock to one hundred years ago. He is at war with progress and the global economy. For those who keep thinking that Trump is going to back off of the trade war, this reported call is proof that he is going full steam ahead with a plan that will wreck the US economy.

The Canadians didn’t burn down the White House in 1812, but Trump is trying to set the US economy ablaze in 2018.
