Trump Takes Credit for the World Cup and Firing Comey

In a highly unusual move Donald Trump took almost a 24 hour break from Twitter yesterday.  Today, however, he was back on his favorite social media platform bragging and taking credit, which is his usual style.

Concerning the World Cup, he wants everyone to know that it is coming to the United States because of his efforts.  “I worked hard on this” he said:

“Thank you for all of the compliments on getting the World Cup to come to the U.S.A., Mexico and Canada. I worked hard on this, along with a Great Team of talented people. We never fail, and it will be a great World Cup! A special thanks to Bob Kraft for excellent advice.”

He wants everyone to think that he’s been getting lots of compliments on his great World Cup achievement, and that many others have recognized that it was all about him.

And by saying “we never fail” when referring to his “Great Team” he is boasting at a whole new level. To say that Trump and his team “never fail” is laughable, but he thinks that by tweeting such an outlandish statement his mindless followers will believe it.

Concerning the Inspector General’s (IG) Report, it was a disaster for him because it proved the FBI helped him, and not Hillary Clinton, get elected.  It took him an entire day to figure out how to spin the report’s conclusions to make himself look good.  So he wrote, “I did a great service to the people in firing him. Good Instincts.”

“The IG Report is a total disaster for Comey, his minions and sadly, the FBI. Comey will now officially go down as the worst leader, by far, in the history of the FBI. I did a great service to the people in firing him. Good Instincts. Christopher Wray will bring it proudly back!”

Everyone knows he fired Comey because the FBI Director wouldn’t stop the Russia investigation.  But Trump is saying it is because of his “good instincts.”  This is also laughable but Trump doesn’t care as long as he has millions of followers who will believe anything he writes on Twitter.

Many Democrats hate James Comey because they know he helped Trump become president.  They may agree with Trump when he wrote: “Comey will now officially go down as the worst leader, by far, in the history of the FBI.”

The irony is that most people think Comey will go down in history as one of the worst FBI Directors because he helped Trump get elected, but of course the president doesn’t see that.  His ego only allows him to trash his enemies while taking credit for everything that goes well.

Trump also tweeted, of course, about the famous text message between FBI agents Strzok and Page:

“FBI Agent Peter Strzok, who headed the Clinton & Russia investigations, texted to his lover Lisa Page, in the IG Report, that “we’ll stop” candidate Trump from becoming President. Doesn’t get any lower than that!”

One thing the IG Report makes clear is that a text message between two FBI agents had nothing to do with the outcome of the 2016 election, and there was no conspiracy to keep Trump from becoming president. But by mentioning it on Twitter, Trump implies that there was an FBI conspiracy against him.

Donald Trump had been hoping that the IG Report would support his claims that the Russia investigation is a “hoax” and a “witch hunt” but this didn’t happen.  As a result, he took a day off from Twitter because this left him temporarily with nothing to say.

In truth, this morning’s tweets are very lame.  By attacking Comey, Strzok and Page, he is beating a dead horse because he is accomplishing nothing by doing this.  And by taking credit for the World Cup he looks like a needy, pathetic old man who is desperate to get approval from others, and to take credit for the accomplishments of others.
