Trump Blames Obama For His Policy Of Keeping Children In Cages

Whenever President Trump needs a distraction from real news he starts tweeting about his favorite topics: Barack Obama, Democrats, and the Russia investigation “witch hunt.”  So that’s what he did Saturday morning as part of a tweetstorm where he combined his normal lunacy with his typical self-promotion.

And none of it made much sense.

For example, in his first tweet he wrote,

“@FoxNews  Poll numbers plummet on the Democrat inspired and paid for Russian Witch Hunt. With all of the bias, lying and hate by the investigators, people want the investigators investigated. Much more will come out. A total scam and excuse for the Dems losing the Election!”

And his second tweet was much shorter, although repetitive:

“The Russian Witch Hunt is Rigged!”

What’s not clear from these tweets is what he’s talking about. Often the president has the presence of mind to tweet links when he refers to other articles or publications.  However here he refers only to “Fox News poll numbers” with no links. This is puzzling because the Fox News Poll twitter account does have poll results about the Russia investigation which show that 67% of Americans think it is a valid investigation.

In addition, he seems to imply that Democrats are paying for the investigation (which is ridiculous) and he mysteriously says that “much more will come out.”

He’s done this before as a way to build interest in his tweets, and to further distract from the negative news that has been bombarding him over the past week. (What he doesn’t say is that much more WILL come out — but it will be in the form of indictments against him and his family.)

Trump’s pathetic attempts to make people focus on Democrats and the “Russian Witch Hunt” would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.  And dangerous.

As one commentator pointed out, this is NOT a witch hunt, and it appears that history might be repeating itself:

“@FoxNews Poll #’s plummet reciting fake info,Russian invest/NOT A WitchHunt. With all of the tRUMP bias, lying &hate by Fox commentators, people want tRUMP IMPEACHED. Much more TO come out on DJTs total scams &excuses for the Russian COLLUSION on the Election! History Repeats!”

Then he really capped off his morning tweetstorm in fine fashion by citing the Drudge Report (but again, without a link) to refer to Obama keeping people in cages:

“Drudge Report  “OBAMA KEPT THEM IN CAGES, WRAPPED THEM IN FOIL” We do a much better job while at the same time maintaining a MUCH stronger Border! Mainstream Fake Media hates this story.”

This really is outrageous.  It is classic Trump distraction and misdirection.  Hopefully the media is smart enough to see through what he is doing and to stay focused on the big stories of his failed policies and programs — and the Russia probe which is not a hoax and not a witch hunt.
