With less than four months until Americans cast their ballots in the midterm elections, the blue wave appears to be gaining momentum – and it’s largely thanks to women voters.
According to a new Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday, women plan to back Democratic candidates this fall by a massive 2-to-1 margin, 57 – 32 percent.
Because of Democratic strength with the female electorate, they now hold a 12-point advantage – 51 to 39 percent overall – heading into the critical midterm elections.

- Women voters: 57 to 32 percent Democratic advantage
- Men voters: 46 to 44 percent Republican advantage
- White voters: 46 to 45 percent Democratic advantage
- African American voters: 78 to 16 percent Democratic advantage
- Hispanic voters: 66 to 22 percent Democratic advantage
Even the demographic groups with whom Republicans appear competitive – male and white voters – aren’t really good news for them heading into the midterms. According to 2016 exit polls, Trump carried those two voting blocs by 11 points and 20 points, respectively.
The fact that it’s essentially a tie among Trump’s target supporters, while Democrats maintain their strength with all other blocs, shows that Republicans are in major trouble heading toward November.

Women have never liked Donald Trump, whether it’s those in his personal life or the majority who voted against him in 2016. But Trump’s conduct in the White House over the past year and a half has motivated them in a way we’ve likely never seen before.
When the blue wave rolls through Washington D.C. in November and takes out the many spineless GOP lawmakers who have let this corrupt president run wild, it is American women who will deserve the credit.
