Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani threw a tantrum on Thursday night following the bombshell news that Trump personally signed off on the infamous Trump Tower meeting with Russians in 2016.
Instead of rebutting the claims, he sidestepped them, repeatedly called Cohen a liar – rich coming from a man who works for Trump – and whined about the secret tapes.
“I expected something like this from Cohen,” Giuliani said. “He’s been lying all week. … He’s been lying for years.”

Giuliani’s tantrum about the bombshell news and the Cohen tapes:
I expected something like this from Cohen. He’s been lying all week. … He’s been lying for years. The tapes that we have demonstrate any number of very serious lies by him back a year and a half ago, including his fooling people, hiding tape recordings, telling them they weren’t recorded, lying to their face, breaking faith with them, taping his client, which is a disbarrable offense. I don’t see how he has any credibility. This is basically if he had a trial, and there won’t be a trial here but if he had a trial, you would say, which lie do you want to pick? You want to pick the first lie, the second lie, or maybe some new lie? There’s nobody that I know that knows him that hasn’t warned me that if his back is up against the wall, he’ll lie like crazy because he’s lied all his life.
Team Trump is panicking
As I wrote shortly after the news broke, Michael Cohen is wrecking Trump’s world. He has gone from Trump’s fixer to his worst nightmare.
If team Trump’s best defense to tonight’s damning news is to change the subject back to the tapes and accuse the other side of lying, then they are in big trouble.
Michael Cohen is now prepared to testify to Robert Mueller that Trump signed off on the 2016 Trump Tower meeting between his campaign and Russian officials who promised dirt on Hillary Clinton.
As Jason Easley pointed out, “If Trump approved the meeting with the Russians, then yes, there was collusion, but more importantly, there was also a criminal conspiracy. “
Regardless of Giuliani’s rambling, Thursday’s stunning revelation puts Donald Trump at the center of this ongoing and increasingly explosive criminal investigation.
