It wasn’t just former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen who was taping the president, Omarosa also secretly recorded conversations with Trump in the White House.

The Daily Beast reported:

Multiple sources with direct knowledge of the situation tell The Daily Beast that Omarosa Manigault-Newman, the infamous former Apprentice star who followed Trump to the White House, secretly recorded conversations with the president—conversations she has since leveraged while shopping her forthcoming “tell-all” book, bluntly titled UNHINGED.

…..

One person confirmed to The Daily Beast they had heard at least one of her recordings featuring President Trump. Multiple sources familiar with the so-called “Omarosa tapes” described the recorded conversations between Trump and Manigault as anodyne, everyday chatter, but said they did appear to feature Trump’s voice, either over the phone or in-person.

Why Did Omarosa Tape Trump?

Omarosa taped Trump for money. She is one of the legions of people that Trump brought with him to DC who had their eye on using a White House position to personally enrich themselves. Very few of Trump’s appointees and hires care about public service. Most of them are in the White House to add it to their resume or turn a quick buck. Even by the low standards of Trump, a secret recording of the president by a member of his own staff is a betrayal of trust, but nothing less should be expected.

Donald Trump demands loyalty from those around him but offers none of his own. Trump is a disloyal person whose sole interest is in making money. When viewed in this context, it is not a surprise that he has attracted like-minded people to his administration. The Trump presidency is a disaster for the United States of America on many different levels, but the damage that Trump and his den of thieves are doing to important institutions and norms may take decades to reverse.
