The secret tape where Devin Nunes admits that House Republicans are the only way to stop Mueller shows how Speaker of the House Paul Ryan betrayed his own country to protect Trump.
Nunes said on the secret tape, “If Sessions won’t unrecuse and Mueller won’t clear the president, we’re the only ones. Which is really the danger. That’s why I keep — and thank you for saying it by the way, I mean, we have to keep all these seats.”
Former Rep. Donna Edwards brought this back to Paul Ryan on MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports, “I lay this at the foot of Speaker Ryan and now Kathy McMorris Rodgers. This is so disappointing, knowing her. It lays bare the agenda, which is to protect the president. What I want to know is where in the Republican leadership, whether it’s from the speaker or from now their conference chair that says that our responsibility is to the people of the United States and not just to protect the president from an investigation that’s closing in on him.”
Paul Ryan Betrayed His Country To Protect Donald Trump
A Speaker of the House who was placing country ahead of his party would never have allowed Devin Nunes to use his position as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee to run interference and obstruct the Russia investigation. Even Mitch McConnell, who is up to his eyeballs in responsibility for not stopping the Russian election attack, has done more to allow the Senate Intelligence Committee to conduct a bipartisan investigation. Ryan has allowed Nunes and other Trump allies in the House to sabotage the Russia probe.
The blame for what has happened in the House rests with Paul Ryan, and the Nunes tape shows exactly what Republicans in Congress should be thrown out of office for enabling instead of holding Trump accountable.
