Robert Mueller’s top two star witnesses —Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen — have pleaded guilty and are working with him. And, as it turns out, both of them have a history of very close connections with not only the president but also Donald Trump’s friend and supporter Sean Hannity.
This means that not only are Trump and Trump’s family in trouble but the controversial Fox News Host is in trouble as well.
Although the focus has been on Manafort recently, it is important to remember that Cohen is also a great source of evidence that the special counsel can use in his investigations.
Much of the Hannity – Trump – Cohen – Manafort connection is public knowledge:
The substance of Hannity’s conversations with Manafort is not known. However, since Manafort was the subject of a FISA warrant, and is now working on Mueller’s team, there is no question that Mueller and his investigators have records of all of these conversations.
The exact nature of the legal or “fixer” work Cohen did for Hannity is not public knowledge either. However, the details are in Cohen’s files obtained by the FBI when they raided Cohen’s office and hotel room in April. Which means Mueller has all of this information.
It is also known that Hannity has been attacking Robert Mueller and his investigation on almost every one of his shows since the special counsel was appointed to investigate Russia and the Trump campaign.
Hannity has effectively been committing crimes in plain sight, on his nightly TV show.
For example, in June we wrote:
“Former Watergate prosecutor Nick Akerman said on MSNBC that what Sean Hannity did when he encouraged witnesses to destroy Russia investigation evidence was witness tampering and the punishment for that felony is 20 years in prison.”
In another article in June we wrote:
“Sean Hannity is Trump’s chief propagandist on Fox News, but Hannity was also a client of Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen. Hannity has nightly late night phone calls with Trump to discuss strategy and policy. Hannity was implicated as part of the cover-up that Trump and Cohen were trying to pull off according to the latest Stormy Daniels lawsuit.”
“Sean Hannity isn’t another conservative media figure touting Trump for ratings. Hannity is a Trump insider and the biggest television cog in the Trump propaganda machine. If Trump goes down for Russia or anything related to Michael Cohen, Hannity is likely going with him.”
CNN reported in September of 2017 that Paul Manafort was the subject of a FISA warrant, saying:
“US investigators wiretapped former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort under secret court orders before and after the election, sources tell CNN, an extraordinary step involving a high-ranking campaign official now at the center of the Russia meddling probe.”
The government snooping continued into early this year, including a period when Manafort was known to talk to President Donald Trump.”
Paul Manafort’s deal says that he must cooperate with every matter of interest to the federal government. And there is no question that his conversations with Sean Hannity are of interest to the government.
Mueller already has recorded conversations, but Manafort’s testimony can now give much more detail about those conversations and what Hannity was up to. If Manafort and Sean Hannity were discussing mundane topics then Hannity has nothing to worry about. But if that’s the case, why was Hannity so upset about Manafort going down?
The truth appears to be that Hannity was a co-conspirator with Trump, Manafort and others to keep important information secret, and to obstruct justice. It is very possible that Hannity has been guilty of numerous federal crimes, and these can be proven in court with the help of Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen.
It is very likely that Mueller has a very complete file on Hannity, and the Fox News host could soon be indicted.
Manafort’s cooperation agreement with Bob Mueller, on top of Cohen’s willingness to also talk to the federal investigators is extremely bad news for Sean Hannity.
