The Women’s March came to be after Donald Trump was put into office even after being caught on tape saying he grabbed women by the “p*ssy” because he was a star and they let him do it. Trump was credibly accused by 19+ women of sexual misconduct.
Brett Kavanaugh has been accused by three women with varying degrees of corroboration, but one theme among the allegations that has emerged is Kavanaugh and his drunken buddy conservative writer Mark Judge liked to get girls drunk and have sex with them together. This is a crime. This has been corroborated also by Mark Judge’s former girlfriend, in addition to being the central theme in recollections of their behavior and in the accusations made against Kavanaugh.
Women are not objects. We are people with a right to our bodies. Watching Republicans trying to ram this guy through when they knew about some of these allegations is one of the worst things I’ve ever witnessed in all of my years as a political writer. This is on par with Trump saying “good people on both sides” after Charlottesville.
Rape kills the soul. To then be treated publicly like a lying piece of garbage in order to protect Donald Trump‘s Get Out of Mueller‘s Probe free card in Kavanaugh is a re-victimization of these women and a spit in the face of victims of all genders and ages.
Trump and Republicans knew Kavanaugh would be hard to confirm, so all of their protests to the contrary regarding his character are nothing but lies. They knew he had some dark secrets but they needed him to protect Trump. It will be hard for them to find another conservative justice so willing to sell out his ideals (conservatives supposedly believe in limited executive power, not that you would know it right now).
The Women’s March won’t let them forget just how women feel about what they’re doing.
