The FBI Is Ignoring Willing Witnesses Against Kavanaugh

Many potential witnesses who have information concerning the sexual misconduct allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh have been frustrated in their attempts to speak with the FBI, according to Reuters.

It appears that many people have been calling the FBI but nobody at the law enforcement agency has been answering the phone.

The Reuters report came out as the deadline for the FBI investigation into Kavanaugh draws near. Republicans have said the probe would end today or tomorrow, allowing the Kavanaugh nomination process to proceed under Senate rules.

Richard Oh — a classmate of Kavanaugh and Deborah Ramirez at Yale University — said that he has contacted the FBI‘s field office in Denver, Colorado on two occasions. He also said he has been unsuccessful in his attempts to provide information that would support Ramirez’s claim and be detrimental to Judge Kavanaugh.

“I didn’t get the sense that the person I talked to at the FBI office in Denver even knew what the Kavanaugh case was about,” Oh said. “I was hoping to hear back from them for follow-up questions. I still haven’t heard from them.”

Mark Krasberg, who lived in the same dorm as Kavanaugh at Yale, told Reuters a similar story. He said he was unsuccessful in his attempt to give the FBI “information which backs up part of Debbie Ramirez’s story.” He also indicated that his efforts included calling the FBI’s Denver field office, which he chose because it is Ramirez’s home state.

Krasberg also said that he has sent “several emails” to Senate aides since last on Friday.

Jo Miller, who has been supportive of Ramirez, said that two other Yale classmates of Kavanaugh – Tad Low and Kerry Berchem – had also made an effort to contact FBI agents working on the case, but with no success.

“As far as I can tell nobody has been contacted,” Miller said.

The claims by potential witnesses are very important because they go to the question of whether or not the FBI investigation is actually credible.

If it’s not credible, then Democrats in the U.S. Senate will have a valid complaint that the FBI was not given enough time to complete a proper investigation.

It’s also possible that Republican Senators Jeff Flake, Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins may also want to assure themselves that the FBI investigation was complete and thorough. They are the ones who last week insisted that the investigation into Kavanaugh’s background be completed before a confirmation vote in the Senate is completed.

The reports from potential witnesses against Kavanaugh confirm that the FBI is conducting a sham investigation. This is not their fault of course, but the fault of Donald Trump and other Republicans who do not want the truth about Kavanaugh to be known to the American public. They don’t seem to realize that one way or another the truth always comes out, and when it does Americans will continue their rejection of the Republican Party and all of its efforts to undermine our democracy.
