Joy Reid Warns The High-Fiving GOP: More Evidence And Allegations Against Kavanaugh Are Coming

While Republicans take a victory lap over the confirmation of an accused sexual predator that the majority of the country doesn’t support, Joy Reid warned them that evidence against Brett Kavanaugh could jeopardize his position on the United States Supreme Court.

From the thousands of unreleased documents from Kavanaugh’s time in the Bush administration to the possibility of more accusers coming forward, the new Supreme Court justice is still not out of the woods.

In other words, it’ll take more than a sham FBI investigation to keep the truth under wraps.

“We really do not have a road map for how to handle the prospect of a Supreme Court justice with so many outstanding complaints or potential complaints against him,” Reid said on Monday.

Joy Reid explained why we are in “uncharted territory” when it comes to Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court seat:

This particular Supreme Court nomination has left a lot of loose ends hanging. There are thousands, if not millions, of documents related to Brett Kavanaugh’s time in the George W. Bush White House that the Senate and the public never got to see. More of those documents will be released, and even more will be foia’d over time, and more evidence may emerge that Kavanaugh lied under oath about his activities during that time. We’ve also learned that Chief Justice John Roberts has received more than a dozen judicial misconduct complaints against Kavanaugh passed along by a judge on the D.C. Court of appeals where Kavanaugh was a judge until this weekend. We don’t know what if anything may become of those complaints now that Kavanaugh is the chief justice’s colleague. And The New Yorker’s Ronan Farrow, who broke the story of Kavanaugh accuser Deborah Ramirez, hinted this weekend there might be more accusers yet to share their stories of sexual misconduct by Kavanaugh. We really do not have a road map for how to handle the prospect of a Supreme Court justice with so many outstanding complaints or potential complaints against him. How will such complaints be adjudicated if and when they come to light? So that’s one thing to keep in mind as we go forward. We are in completely uncharted territory right now.

The truth will eventually come out, even if Republicans don’t want it to

The White House may have forced the FBI to run a sham investigation that cleared Kavanaugh of any wrongdoing, but there is plenty of documentary evidence yet to be released.

As Reid pointed out on Monday, these documents could provide evidence of what most of us already knew: Kavanaugh lied under oath during his Senate testimony. Not to mention the fact that more accusers could potentially break their silence over Kavanaugh.

Republicans may be celebrating now, but sticking with Kavanaugh could be a dire mistake as more evidence and allegations are likely to surface. That won’t only put a permanent cloud over Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court seat, but it will inflict severe political damage on the Republican majority that confirmed him.
