Unhinged Trump Rally Proves He is ‘The Mob President’

At a campaign rally in Iowa Tuesday night President Donald Trump became the leader of an angry mob. Stoking up the fury of the crowd, the president blamed California Senator Dianne Feinstein for the sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh. As he did so, his unhinged audience began chanting ‘lock her up,” referring to the senior senator from California.

Robert Reich was quick to point out Trump’s hypocrisy:

“So let me get this straight: Protestors demanding a thorough investigation into sexual assault allegations against a lifetime nominee to the Supreme Court are an “angry mob,” but leading chants about jailing your political opponents is okay?”

California Democratic Representative Maxine Waters — a fierce Trump critic — also pointed out how ridiculous it was for Trump and other Republicans to say that anti-Kavanaugh protesters were violent and “mob-like.”

“This country was built on peaceful protest,” Waters told MSNBC’s Chris Hayes Tuesday night. “And those of us who were part of the civil rights movement, who understood the power of protest taught by Dr. Martin Luther King and others know that we cannot allow Donald Trump and anybody else to take protests away from us and to deem it to be violent and to try and make us look like a mob.”

When the president accuses Democrats of “normalizing violence” and promoting “mob rule,” he is trying to change the definition of constitutionally-protected rights to assembly.

“This president is the poster boy for what a mob protester looks like,” Waters said. “He’s the one who has been violent in his speech. He’s the one in his rallies have said things like this, ‘I’d like to punch him in the face.’”

Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough this morning also pointed out Trump’s hypocrisy at the rally last night. He said that instead of criticizing Democrats Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell should criticize the “angry mob” at Trump’s rally lustily demanding a violation of due process rights for Senator Feinstein.

Scarborough said:

“This weekend you had Republicans such as Mitch McConnell calling Democratic protesters ‘angry mobs,’ and they were so concerned about due process, just a couple days ago.”

“Now the president of the United States is holding rallies where angry mobs of people are demanding to lock up a United States senator because they disagree with her politics. I guess due process and keeping your head, that was in vogue for Republicans last week.”

“Mitch McConnell must be shocked at the angry mobs. I mean, the poor guy, he was a snowflake just a couple days ago, just melting on national television because of all the angry mobs. I wonder what Mitch thinks, again, about people talking about locking up one of his colleagues, sending one of his colleagues to jail because they disagree with her politically. That’s an angry mob, right?”

The midterm elections are now less than four weeks away and it has become more clear than ever how much is at stake on November 6th. Democrats must take back control of at least the House of Representatives if we are to prevent the country from being run by Donald Trump and his unhinged, angry mob of supporters.
