Rep. Joe Kennedy Beautifully Calls Out Trump’s MAGA Bombing Failure

Rep. Joe Kennedy III (D-MA) said that instead of bringing the country together as a bomber was on the loose, Trump chose to scapegoat the media.

Joe Kennedy said on MSNBC:

I think we have seen throughout certainly American history and recent history acts of political violence are unfortunately — have occurred. That obviously is nothing new. I do think that dehumanization of the other, of whether that’s Democrats and Republicans and just people that don’t believe in what your current political ideology might be is dangerous. Now, I think this goes well beyond questions about civility. Civility itself does not — nice words don’t excuse this type of action, and so there needs to be a robust response from law enforcement and, yes, every other institution that we’ve got to ensure that this is not okay. Look, let’s be very clear.

The President Of The United States had an opportunity to try to bring the country together around this, and he chose to scapegoat the media, and that’s disappointing. That is not surprising, but rather than taking this moment to recognize that while this — the culture that we are in, the discussions that we have, the heated rhetoric is something that we all play a part in and doing had his part to pull it down, he missed that opportunity.

Kennedy was right. It is not about civility. The issue is that when Donald Trump was at a crossroads and faced with the choice of whether to use his presidential power to unite or divide the country, Trump doubled down on division by blaming the media for the bombing attempts. One of the main duties of a president is to be the president of all Americans.

Trump has shown no interest in this aspect of his job, and the cost of his choice is that violence has been inspired, and America desperately needs a real leader that can bring the nation together.
