13 Of The Biggest Press Organizations Unite Against Trump In CNN Lawsuit

Thirteen of the biggest press organizations in the United States ranging from NBC and Fox News to The Washington Post and New York Times have come together in support of CNN’s lawsuit against Trump.

MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle reported, “At least 13 of America’s biggest names in the news industry, including NBC news, are standing in solidarity with CNN and its reporter, Jim Acosta. These organizations all say they will file briefs with the U.S. District court in support of CNN and Acosta. That’s the Associated Press, Bloomberg, First Look Media Works, Fox News, Gannet National Press Club, Journalism Institute, NBC News, The New York Times, Politico, Press Freedom Defense Fund, the EW Scripps Company, USA Today.Network, and The Washington Post.”

Trump Unites The Press In Defense Of The First Amendment

Organizations that are left, right, and neutral all share a common goal of protecting the First Amendment. Today’s Trump ban of Jim Acosta if allowed to stand could turn into a future ban of the New York Times, Washington Post, Fox News, or NBC. The Justice Department’s claim that the First Amendment does not apply to press access to the White House is laughable. The administration’s argument is that the president gets to decide who gets access to a building that is the property of the American people.

As long as journalists pass the background check, there is no reason for them to be denied the access that they need to tell the American people what the executive branch of their government is up to.

The principle at stake isn’t liberal or conservative.

It’s constitutional.

The media isn’t giving Trump the war of words that he craves, but they are checking him and standing up for the First Amendment right of every American to criticize their government without fear of retribution.

The press is fighting for the people, and showing the enemy of liberty is an out of control president who has no respect for freedom.
