Rep. Eric Swalwell Smacks Down Trump After Threat To House Democrats

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) told Trump that House Democrats aren’t afraid of him after he threatened to declassify “devastating documents.”

Trump threatened House Democrats during an interview with The New York Post earlier in the week, “If they go down the presidential harassment track, if they want go and harass the president and the administration, I think that would be the best thing that would happen to me. I’m a counter-puncher and I will hit them so hard they’d never been hit like that…I think that would help my campaign. If they want to play tough, I will do it. They will see how devastating those pages are.â€

Rep. Swalwell tweeted a devastating reply:

Rep. Eric Swalwell nailed Trump

Rep. Swalwell was right. House Democrats have no fear of Trump because they just crushed in an election. House Democrats have the popular mandate on their side. More importantly, House Democrats have the oversight power over Trump. This isn’t a fight on even terms. The House has the power. Trump can declassify documents, hold rallies, and tweet, but Democrats hold all of the advantages in this situation.

Trump will lose any fight with House Democrats because they have the power to investigate and subpoena that the Executive Branch lacks.

House Democrats have no fear of Trump

House Democrats should not be afraid of Trump, because outside of the Republican Party, this president has little influence. Trump isn’t going to turn Democratic voters against their representatives. Trump isn’t going to turn Independents against the Democrats. Trump is the most impotent president in memory.

House Democrats aren’t afraid of Donald Trump, and if he wants a fight, he is going to get one.
