Mueller Has a ‘Conspiracy Case’ to ‘Ensnare Trump and His Family’

Former federal prosecutor Peter Zeidenberg says that special counsel Robert Mueller is building a “conspiracy case that will ensnare Donald Trump and his family.”

In a column published in USA Today Zeidenberg predicts that Mueller will soon lay out his case proving the existence of an illegal conspiracy between Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and Russian operatives and friends of Vladimir Putin.

When he does this, Zeidenberg says, Mueller will “ensnare the president’s family.”

Former Trump personal attorney and “fixer” Michael Cohen’s latest guilty plea supports this conclusion. Cohen admitted to lying to Congress about a deal to build a Trump Tower in Moscow. The deal was being negotiated while Trump was campaigning for the Republican Party’s nomination for the presidency, but Trump always denied it. If he had told the truth, it is likely that he would never have secured the GOP nomination, let alone the presidency.

Zeidenberg points out that with Cohen’s testimony Mueller now has evidence proving a motive to conspire with Russia to interfere in the election.

“The putative Moscow project helps provide motive for Trump to have curried favor with Putin.”

“Once Trump repeatedly and publicly denied having any business interests in Russia, Putin had leverage over Trump, because he knew this claim was an easily disprovable lie.”

Cohen also regularly briefed members of the Trump family — including Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump — with updates on the project.

According to Zeidenberg, these family members are now implicated in the conspiracy. He probably has additional evidence of this that will support Cohen’s testimony.

And to make the situation even more dire for the Trump family, they can be charged with felonies if they falsely told investigators that they knew little or nothing about Trump Tower Moscow. They may have lied to the FBI, to the special counsel investigators, and even to Congressional committees.

In his article, Zeidenberg points out:

“It appears that the Mueller investigation is reaching its endgame. After a two-month hiatus for the midterms, special counsel Robert Mueller‘s team is prepared to once again show its work. These developments are ominous for President Donald Trump. In short order, expect to see a case of conspiracy to interfere with the 2016 election to be laid out in court.”

“Defenders of the president have, despite the obvious progress of the Mueller investigationmore than 30 indictments or guilty pleas, including Trump’s campaign chairman, personal lawyer, national security adviser, deputy campaign manager and foreign policy adviser — consistently argued that “no collusion” has been proved.”

“While it is true that the charges made public have not alleged conspiracy (there is no crime of “collusion”) it should be clear to all but the most obtuse by now that the endgame is drawing near. Mueller is laying out the predicate for a wide-ranging conspiracy case that will likely ensnare the president’s family and, quite likely, Trump himself.”

Peter Zeidenberg worked for 17 years as a federal prosecutor so he knows what’s really going on with the Mueller investigation. He says that the “endgame” is near, and Mueller will soon reveal that he can prove the existence of a criminal conspiracy against the United States. And when he does, the most prominent individuals who will be charged with conspiracy and other very serious crimes all have the same last name: Trump.
