Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) made the critical point that Trump has gone from saying that he did nothing wrong to claiming that there is no evidence that he did anything wrong.
Rep. Lieu tweeted:
While it's fun to mock #SmockingGun & the spelling skills of stable genius, here's a key fact: @realDonaldTrump has now moved from saying there is no evidence of collusion to there is no smoking gun. Mueller hasn't yet revealed what he knows & Trump is moving the goalposts again. https://t.co/ooqxr1JxaM

Trump is changing his story
Don’t be distracted by presidential Twitter typos. Donald Trump is trying to move the goal posts from no collusion to no smoking gun. In essence, Trump is moving from claiming that he did nothing wrong to saying that he did something wrong, but you can’t prove it. The next step in this argument is to admit that he committed crimes, but that he can’t be prosecuted because he is the president.
Rep. Lieu was right. Trump is inching closer to admitting that he conspired with the Russians. The scandal isn’t just about the Trump campaign conspiring with Russians, but Trump’s friends and family being approached and infiltrated by Russians.
No collusion has become no proof of collusion.
It is a small step in words but a giant toward admitting that Donald Trump committed crimes against his own country.
