Advertisers Flee Tucker Carlson Over Anti-Immigrant Rhetoric

The more Tucker Carlson bashes immigrants; the faster advertisers flee his Fox News show.

The Washington Post reported:
On Tuesday, more companies took a position, even as Fox reported that no revenue had been lost.

The pancake chain IHOP said in a statement provided by spokeswoman Stephanie Peterson that it stands “for welcoming folks from all backgrounds and beliefs into our restaurants and continually evaluate ad placements to ensure they align with our values. In this case, we will no longer be advertising on this show.”

The genealogy company Ancestry halted advertisements, as did personal finance company NerdWallet, which said that it would be reevaluating future airtime on the show.

Carlson has been in full mini-me Trump mode with claims that immigrants make America poorer and dirtier. Carlson also claimed that “Thanks to illegal immigration, huge swaths of the region are covered with garbage and waste that degrade the soil and kill wildlife.â€

Fox News claims that left-wing advocacy groups are behind the boycott and that they aren’t losing money, but this has become the standard company line when faced with an advertiser exodus. Even if all of the advertisers left, Tucker Carlson would survive because he is a Trump favorite who echoes and amplifies the president’s racist language and beliefs about immigrants.

Trump’s immigration rhetoric got Republicans killed in the midterm election, and now it is about hit Fox News hard in the bottom line.
