Sen. Brian Schatz flew the whole way back from Hawaii just so that he could vote no what he called Trump’s stupid wall.
Schatz tweeted:
Wheels down IAD ready to vote no on this stupid wall.

Sen. Schatz had just gotten home for Christmas when he had to turn around and fly right back to DC:
So apparently @ChrisMurphyCT goes on @maddow and says I have to fly back right away after landing in HNL and my mom called me all worried. It was cute. I’m good!

Trump is burning bridges with senators everywhere over this wall stunt.
The government shutdown is absurd, and it is only happening because Trump made a promise that Mexico would pay for the wall, and everyone knew that it wasn’t true. Trump can’t get the money out of Congress, and this is his very last chance to get anything for the wall before Democrats take control of the House in January.
Trump created this mess.
Trump turned down $25 billion in wall money in exchange for protecting the Dreamers. Now, he is shutting down the government to try to get one-fifth of that money. Trump doesn’t have the votes for the $5 billion and negotiated himself into total failure.
There will be no wall.
