Jon Stewart Blasts Trump For Building A Wall And Not Taking Care of 9/11 First Responders

Last updated on March 5th, 2019 at 03:45 pm

Jon Stewart called out Trump for having billions to throw at a wall, but not spending on the 9/11 first responders fund.

Stewart said on MSNBC‘s Andrea Mitchell Reports, “At the very same time that they were sending out letters telling these people that the awards were going to be slashed by 70% the president stood in the Rose Garden and talked about how much money he had billions from China billions from Mexico. I’ve got so much money from the dod I don’t even know what to do with it and I might take a billion here and put it up against the wall at the billion here. At the very same time these people were being told hey, we’re out of money. It’s unconscionable.”

Jon Stewart Is Right. Republicans Should Be Ashamed.

The health problems of 9/11 first responders are a Republican generated crisis. It was then New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani who lied to first responders and told them that the air was safe to safe to breathe at the World Trade Center site. Everyone knew that the air wasn’t safe, but first responders spent months in that environment. It is Republicans who have balked at the cost of the 9/11 first responder fund.

There is no reason why this funding wasn’t made permanent. Republicans are the reason why it took seven years to pass the initial bill, and they are the reason sick and dying people are being forced to fight for funding today.

American heroes deserve better. Instead of building a wall with a bogus national disaster declaration, Republicans should put America first and take care of 9/11 first responders.
