SNL cold open Hader Stiller

Bill Hader and Ben Stiller Return to SNL For Hilarious Cold Open

Ben Stiller returned to play Michael Cohen in last night’s “Saturday Night Live†cold open and he was joined by another SNL alum Bill Hader, who played right-wing congressman Jim Jordan of Ohio.

To no one’s surprise, the opening skit addressed the congressional testimony last week of Donald Trump’s former “fixer†and attorney.

“Thank you for inviting me here today to correct the record under oath. Of course, the first time I testified was also under oath. But this time, I like really mean it,†Stiller as Cohen said during the mock SNL hearing, reading from his notes.

After making his prepared comments, Cohen-Stiller was questioned by several congressional characters from the real-life hearing, including Hader as the angry and Cohen-berating Jordan.

“Good afternoon, Mr. Chairman,†Hader’s Jordan says before yelling at Cohen, saying: “And good afternoon to you, you lying piece of human trash!â€

“Mr. Chairman, you’re right that I’m angry,†Hader’s Jordan continued.  â€œI’m angry that I have to sit here through this two-bit dirtbag flea circus. I’m so angry I couldn’t even wear a jacket today!â€

The now infamous moment when Rep. Mark Meadows of North Carolina brought Trump associate and HUD official Lynne Patton to the hearing got a brief SNL treatment. Meadows was widely criticized for bring a “token” black person to the hearing in his vain attempt to prove that Donald Trump is not racist.

SNL’s Meadows said that he couldn’t help but hear “Mr. Cohen call the president a racist.â€

He then says, “I brought with me a black woman and she works for Trump, don’t you? Uh-huh. Her name is Omarosa.â€

The clearly uncomfortable SNL version of Patton notes she is not Omarosa and asks to leave.

“I’m here today to tell you that Mr. Trump is a racist,” Stiller added as the audience remained quiet.

“Wow, I thought that would be a bigger reaction,” he added.

The sketch then ends with Stiller’s Cohen saying “Look, maybe I’m not a good person,†no buts attached.
