According to Rick Reilly’s new book, before Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, Trump abandoned a golf project there and left the island with a $32 million debt.
Here is a piece from Reilly’s book, Commander In Cheat:
Great passage from @ReillyRick's book Commander In Cheat:
"When Trump turned his back on Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria, did anybody know that he’d abandoned his “fabulous†golf project there the year before, a bankruptcy that left the tiny territory with a $32 million debt?"

Trump claims Puerto Rico’s leaders are incompetent, but he screwed the poor island out of millions
Trump recently ranted about the incompetence of Puerto Rico’s leaders:
The Democrats today killed a Bill that would have provided great relief to Farmers and yet more money to Puerto Rico despite the fact that Puerto Rico has already been scheduled to receive more hurricane relief funding than any “place†in history. The people of Puerto Rico…..

….are GREAT, but the politicians are incompetent or corrupt. Puerto Rico got far more money than Texas & Florida combined, yet their government can’t do anything right, the place is a mess – nothing works. FEMA & the Military worked emergency miracles, but politicians like…..

….the crazed and incompetent Mayor of San Juan have done such a poor job of bringing the Island back to health. 91 Billion Dollars to Puerto Rico, and now the Dems want to give them more, taking dollars away from our Farmers and so many others. Disgraceful!

Before the hurricane hit, Trump added to the island’s fiscal woes by bailing on a golf course there and piling on the debt. What Trump did in Puerto Rico is how his business operates. Trump begins projects, takes investor money, pays himself and his family, then abandons the project under a mountain of debt. Others are left holding the bag, and Trump has moved on to his next con.
Long before his racist rants against disaster relief, Trump made the financial situation of the island much worse by running one of his golf course cons.
