Trump seems to think that the jobs report will save his presidency, but Speaker Nancy Pelosi gave Trump a dose of reality.

In a statement provided to PoliticusUSA, Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) said:

The March jobs numbers report, while an improvement over the appalling February report, does little to calm the uncertainty facing hard-working Americans’ health care and economic security because of the special interest agenda of the GOP.

If the President gets his way, the Republicans’ monstrous war on Americans’ health care in the courts will raise the premiums and out-of-pocket costs of millions of Americans, destroy protections for people with pre-existing conditions, and destroy every last benefit of the Affordable Care Act – threatening the affordable health coverage and the financial security of millions of hard-working families. Meanwhile, the President’s recent reckless, rash threats of closing the border injected even more uncertainty into the economy, businesses and families, jeopardizing countless good-paying jobs, violating our values and hurting our country.

House Democrats, in stark contrast, continue our decisive action to strengthen our economy by advancing bold legislation that honors our promise For The People. We are working to lower Americans’ health costs and prescription drug prices, raise wages by rebuilding America with green, modern infrastructure, and clean up corruption to make sure Washington works for everyone.

The jobs report doesn’t matter if people don’t have health insurance and their wages are not keeping up with rising costs. Trump and the Republicans don’t get that it is about more than having a job. Having a crappy job that makes one feel like they can’t keep their head above water is not something to cheer about. Trump‘s policies haven’t created the good paying jobs that he promised.

The 2020 election won’t be about jobs reports. Healthcare, Donald Trump, and bringing order to the chaos and corruption that have exhausted the nation will be key themes. The jobs report didn’t help Republicans running in 2018, and it isn’t going to help Trump in 2020.
