Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) played the audio of a witness that Republicans invited apologizing and legitimizing Hitler during a hearing on the rise of white nationalism.

Reo. Lieu said, “In congressional hearings, the minority party gets to select its own witnesses, and of all the people that Republicans could have selected, they picked Candice Owens I don’t know Miss Owens. I’m not going to characterize her. I’m going to let her own words do the talking. I am going to play for you the first thirty seconds of a statement that she made about Adolf Hitler.”

Lieu pulls out his phone, puts up to the microphone, and plays the witness in her own words saying that Hitler would have been fine if he just wanted to make Germany great again, but his problem was that he was a globalist.

Only Republicans would invite a Hitler apologist to a hearing on hate crimes and white nationalism

As Rep. Lieu said, Republicans are free to invite anyone that they want to be a witness at the hearing, but inviting a Hitler normalizer and apologist doesn’t help the Republicans cause of denying that they are the political party of white supremacy. Owens has since tried to distance herself from the whole guy who killed millions of Jews is the worst holocaust in history isn’t so bad comments, but Rep. Lieu was right.

This isn’t about judging Owens, but the fact that Republicans didn’t see anything wrong with inviting her to a hearing on hate crimes and white supremacy says everything that you need to know about what the GOP stands for under Donald Trump.
