US Allies Defy Trump On Starting A New War With Iran

US allies are rejecting the Trump administration’s claims of an increased Iranian threat while pointing out that the aggression is coming from Trump, not Iran.

Trump is trying to provoke a war with Iran

The New York Times reported:

Intelligence and military officials in Europe as well as in the United States said that over the past year, most aggressive moves have originated not in Tehran, but in Washington — where John R. Bolton, the national security adviser, has prodded President Trump into backing Iran into a corner.

One American official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss confidential internal planning, said the new intelligence of an increased Iranian threat was “small stuff†and did not merit the military planning being driven by Mr. Bolton. The official also said the ultimate goal of the yearlong economic sanctions campaign by the Trump administration was to draw Iran into an armed conflict with the United States.

US Allies Are Defying Trump

US allies have seen this movie before. John Bolton was one of the figures who pushed the hardest for the US invasion of Iraq. The Bush administration made up false pretenses, WMDs, to justify their disastrous war. The war in Iraq will be child’s play compared to a war with Iran. US allies are not going to get suckered again. The American people aren’t going to be fooled.

Trump is trying to save his dying presidency with a war. Armed international conflict could be the last gasp move of a failing president who desperate to maintain power through any means necessary, and that would include a bloody and doomed war with Iran.
