House Democrats Are Unified In Stopping Trump’s Obstruction and Crime

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said that House Democrats are having a discussion, but they are united in stopping Trump’s lawlessness and obstruction.

Raskin said on MSNBC, “I think Speaker Pelosi is correct we are unified in our caucus in being determined to stop the lawlessness and obstructionism of the Trump White House. Everybody wants to prevent them from blocking all of our investigations we are demanding the documents the witnesses that we’ve asked for. We’re demanding that subpoenas be honored. As for whether or not to launch an impeachment inquiry, I think that everybody’s on the table at this point, and we’re having a very lively and, shall we say empathetic conversation about it. I mean everybody understands that people come from different districts and there’s different kind of political topography in the country. We want to keep everyone together, and at a time when you think lawlessness coming from the White House, we have to stand with the constitution and keep our caucus together.”

The claim that Democrats are divided on impeachment makes for a much juicier news story and headline. The truth is more what Rep. Raskin said. Democrats are debating how and when to move forward. They all agree with Speaker Pelosi on stopping the Trump crime wave. The real debate is a question of when to act. The Democrats will be united no matter which course of action they choose.

The Republican dream of House Democrats splintering over impeachment isn’t going to happen. House Democrats will stand behind Nancy Pelosi, and so far when taking on Trump, she has yet to be wrong.
