Republican Party Demands America Celebrate Trump On D-Day

RNC Chair Ronna Romney McDaniel said that Donald Trump is “our” president and D-Day is a day for America to celebrate him.

McDaniel said on Fox Business, “I just have a reminder for the media. He’s your president too. This is our president. This is our country. e are celebrating the anniversary, 75 years of D-Day. This is the time where we should be celebrating our President, the great achievements of America, and I don’t think the American people like this constant negativity. There are times when we should be lifting up our president, especially when he’s overseas.”

For his part, Trump used D-Day as a backdrop to go on Fox News and attack Robert Mueller and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

D-Day is not a day to celebrate Trump

McDaniel’s comments demonstrate how far down the Trump cult of personality rabbit hole the Republican Party has fallen. There is no Republican Party anymore. It is Donald Trump’s party, and Trump’s party believes that every holiday should be a celebration of the dear leader. It doesn’t matter that Trump has been a walking embarrassment to the nation overseas.

D-Day isn’t a day of celebration. It isn’t an anniversary marking a joyous event. Young Americans lost their lives storming the beaches of Normandy in an effort to win a world war. D-Day had nothing to do with Donald Trump. Current presidents don’t get their own holidays.

Republicans have lost all sense of reality are taking every occasion to cheer a corrupt and failing president.
