Trump Is Trying To Hand Democrats The White House With New Plan To Repeal Obamacare

Trump won’t listen to Republicans and leave healthcare alone, which is why his new plan to repeal Obamacare could hand Democrats the White House.

Trump wants to campaign on repealing Obamacare

According to The New York Times:
As President Trump prepares to kick off his bid for a second term this week, he is anxiously searching for a way to counter Democrats on health care, one of their central issues, even though many of his wary Republican allies would prefer he let it go for now.

Now he is vowing to issue the plan within a month or two, reviving a campaign promise with broad consequences for next year’s contest. If he follows through, it could help shape a presidential race that Democrats would like to focus largely on health care.

But nervous Republicans worry that putting out a concrete plan with no chance of passage would only give the Democrats a target to pick apart over the next year. The hard economic reality of fashioning a plan that lives up to the promises Mr. Trump has made would invariably involve trade-offs unpopular with many voters.

Trump is setting himself and Republicans up for defeat

Trump is trying to run against healthcare as socialism. The problem is that Medicare for All isn’t going to be the Democratic healthcare platform. Democrats are going to run on strengthening Obamacare. The ACA is popular, and Democrats are not going to run on gutting the whole program and replacing it with Medicare for All. Trump thinks he can reverse his poll numbers because Fox News told him that Obamacare is unpopular, by campaigning against the ACA.

The president’s plan will give Democrats a target and allow them to run on healthcare.

Trump is setting himself and the Republican Party up for failure in 2020.

Just like how he refuses to believe that the polls show him losing, the president is refusing to accept that people like and want affordable health insurance.

Trump won’t leave healthcare alone, which is why Republicans are going to pay in 2020.
