Trump thinks that immigration is his key to reelection but he is digging his own grave by defending family deportations.
Trump doesn’t have an immigration policy. He isn’t offering a solution to the problem. The president’s idea is to throw all of the immigrants out, and build a wall so that they can’t come in. Trump’s ideas are very unpopular with the rest of the country outside of his base, but Donald Trump doesn’t see the rest of America. This is a president who doesn’t think that he needs swing voters to win.

Donald Trump is doubling down on bad ideas. He already tried this in 2018, and this same immigration stance will lead to a potentially crushing defeat in 2020.
