Trump tried to create division between Biden and Obama by questioning why Obama hasn’t already endorsed his vice president.
Trump told The Hill in an interview, “How he doesn’t get President Obama to endorse him? There has to be some reason why he’s not endorsing him. There has to be some reason why he’s not endorsing him. He was the vice president. They seemed to have gotten along. President Obama not endorsing him is rather…a big secret, then he goes and lies and says I asked the president not to endorse me…give me a break.”
Obama is not endorsing anyone yet because he doesn’t want to swing the Democratic primary.
It is a concept that is foreign to Trump, but Obama is creating a level playing field for all of the Democratic candidates. Trump also refused to endorse Mike Pence for 2024, but the reason why he threw his own VP under the bus that it has long been rumored that Trump wants his son Donald Trump Jr. to follow him into the Oval Office.
Biden didn’t ask Obama to endorse him, because he already knew that the former president was not endorsing anyone.
Trump is scared. He knows that a Biden nomination will bring out the Obama coalition in November. Trump is trying to split Biden and Obama because even he knows that he doesn’t stand a chance if the popular Obama is standing side by side with Joe Biden.
