The Department of Justice told a federal judge that they had no idea what Trump was talking about as they were caught off guard by his Census citizenship question tweet.
The DOJ has no idea what Trump is talking about
The saga continues:
DOJ was so thrown off by Trump’s census tweet, and the need to scramble for a call at the district judge’s behest, that they didn’t have time to make sure their trial counsel (who called in from vacation) knew what the head of the Civil Division would say. https://t.co/D1F9OxIAh8 pic.twitter.com/ouai4NBE4I

In other words, the DOJ had no idea what Trump was talking about:
Breaking:
Federal judge demands Justice Dept explain today’s Trump tweet. Justice Dept tells judge they have no idea what Trump tweet means. @TheLastWord 10pm— Lawrence O'Donnell (@Lawrence) July 3, 2019
The judge is concerned about Trump’s tweet because the president can’t delay the Census, but the Department of Justice, which is within the Trump administration, has no idea what the president was talking about. Trump has no idea what he is talking about either, so all of the parties involved in this insane drama are totally confused.
Here is what is going to happen. If the forms are being printed, it’s over. Trump is not going to get his citizenship question included in the Census. The DOJ gave up on this yesterday, but then President Crazy Train issued a tweet that required a federal judge to call the DOJ to the carpet to demand an explanation, and they don’t have. Heck, they don’t even have their lead attorney on the case, because he is on vacation.
This still ends with Trump not getting his Census citizenship question.
The DOJ is going through the motions to keep Trump from getting upset, but it is all more Trump chaos that is going nowhere fast.
