Joe Biden Is Rolling As No One Gains Ground After Second Debate

None of the other presidential candidates gained any ground on Joe Biden after the second round of Democratic debates in Detroit.

Joe Biden Is Dominating The Democratic field

The new Morning Consult poll found:
– Thirty-two percent of Democratic primary voters said they still want to see former Vice President Joe Biden at the top of the party’s 2020 ticket. That figure hasn’t shifted much since the end of the first round of debates when 33 percent said Biden was their first choice.

– No candidate saw movement outside the survey’s margin of error of 2 percentage points.

– The latest debates did not move the needle like the Miami debates in June, which saw Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) double her vote share in the immediate aftermath, moving from 6 percent of

– the vote to 12 percent, and Biden’s support dropping 5 percentage points.
Author Marianne Williamson, despite having a breakout night Tuesday, did not attract more voters and still sits at 1 percent.

Warren Gained 2 points, Harris Lost 3 points, and everyone else stayed flat

In second place, Sen. Bernie Sanders continues to hold steady at 18%. Sen. Elizabeth Warren has moved into third after her support went from 13%-15%. Sen. Kamala Harris lost three points and slid to 4th place at 10%. Buttigieg, Booker, O’Rourke, and Yang all stayed flat at 6%, 3%, 3%, and 2% respectively.

The criteria for the next debate is more strict, so currently, only eight candidates are qualified with Yang and Castro on the cusp of qualification for the September debate.

A looming problem for candidates is the new delegation allocation rules require that only candidates getting 15% of the vote or more in each primary and caucus are awarded delegates. This means that every candidate outside Biden who isn’t at less than 15% in any early state is flirting with not picking up delegates.

There is a sizable segment of Democrats who like and want Joe Biden as the party’s nominee. The possibility is growing that Biden catches fire in the early voting states and rolls to the nomination. The other candidates the nomination may have to beat Biden early or not at all, as these debates aren’t moving the needle and shifting voters away from the former vice president.
