O’Rourke said, “What do you think? You know the shit he’s been saying. He’s been calling Mexican immigrants rapists and criminals. I don’t know — members of the press, what the f*ck — hold on a second. You know, it’s these questions that you know the answers to. I mean, connect the dots about what he’s been doing in this country. He’s not tolerating racism. He’s promoting racism.”
Beto O’Rourke was right. The press knows exactly what has been going on. The President Of The United States is a racist who has been promoting racist views both as a candidate and as a president. This is nothing new, or a surprise, and it will not change until the press stops enabling Trump and starts calling out his racist hate speech for exactly what it is. It’s not a coincidence that the El Paso shooter used Trump’s own words in his manifesto.
Racist people have always been around, but Trump has tried to embolden and legitimize them and their views. The press needs to stop playing dumb and start calling out Republican racism. Playing dumb is allowing Trump to spread hate that is getting innocent people killed.
