Andrew McCabe Sues The DOJ Over Illegal Firing By Trump

Former FBI official Andrew McCabe is the suing the Department of Justice claiming that Trump illegally removed him from his job.

The Washington Post reported:
McCabe’s lawsuit is notable for its forcefulness, alleging that Trump enlisted the highest-ranking members of the federal law enforcement apparatus in a scheme to stifle dissent. The suit singles out in particular Sessions and FBI Director Christopher A. Wray, who it claims “knowingly acted in furtherance of Trump’s plan and scheme, with knowledge that they were implementing Trump’s unconstitutional motivations for removing Plaintiff from the civil service.â€

“Trump demanded Plaintiff’s personal allegiance, he sought retaliation when Plaintiff refused to give it, and Sessions, Wray, and others served as Trump’s personal enforcers rather than the nation’s highest law enforcement officials, catering to Trump’s unlawful whims instead of honoring their oaths to uphold the Constitution,†the lawsuit alleges.

McCabe’s firing has long reeked of illegality, as it appears that Trump vindictively fired McCabe a day before he could have retired and collected his retirement benefits. Andrew McCabe isn’t looking for big bucks or damages. He wants the retirement benefits that he earned during his FBI career.

The McCabe firing was politically motivated and intentionally done as part of Trump’s effort to remove anyone from the FBI who was involved in investigating him. McCabe has been consistent in saying that he was fired as part of Trump’s effort to undermine the FBI. That effort is continuing through this very day, as Trump has been working diligently to find a stooge who can install as Director of National Intelligence who will sabotage the Intel community.

If Donald Trump loses in 2020, here’s hoping that the next president treats our federal law enforcement and intelligence communities right.
