Post-Debate Poll Shows Biden, Warren Clear Winners Of Third Primary Debate

A new poll shows that Democratic primary voters believe former vice president Joe Biden and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren were the clear winners of the third primary debate.

The survey from The Hill/Harris X found that 20 percent believed Biden was the winner, while 12 percent thought Warren performed best. Sens. Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris trailed with 9 percent and 7 percent, respectively.

It should be noted that one-third of respondents – 33 percent – were unsure about who performed best in the Houston debate. In other words, the most recent debate hasn’t really changed anything.

The Democratic primary race is remarkably stable

Political pundits like to treat every debate as a make-or-make moment for the presidential candidates, but the polling shows that the Democratic primary race is remarkably stable.

The Hill/Harris X poll aligns with another survey released Monday from Morning Consult that shows Biden still leading the Democratic field nationally with 32 percent support.

Sanders and Warren place in second and third place with 20 percent and 18 percent, respectively.

It remains to be seen whether these numbers will shift as the campaign goes on, but so far they have remained steady. Biden continues to lead the pack, while Warren and Sanders trail behind.

Until more lower-tier candidates withdraw from the race and primary voters actually cast their ballots, the dynamics of this primary are unlikely to shift. For Joe Biden, that is good news as his front-runner status is still intact nearly six months into his presidential campaign.
