Former vice president Joe Biden was in full attack mode on Saturday as Donald Trump’s extortion scandal with Ukraine continues to blow up.
Biden said that Trump knows he will defeat him next November, which is why he’s trying to bribe and bully a foreign leader for dirt. Biden added that the House of Representatives must investigate the president.
“I know Trump deserves to be investigated. He is violating every basic norm of a president,” the former VP said. “Trump’s doing this because he knows I’ll beat him like a drum and he’s using the abuse of power and every element of the presidency to try to do something to smear me.”

Here’s what I know: I know Trump deserves to be investigated. He is violating every basic norm of a president. You should be asking him the question, why is he on the phone with a foreign leader trying to intimidate a foreign leader, if that’s what happened? That appears to have happened. You should be looking at Trump. Trump’s doing this because he knows I’ll beat him like a drum and he’s using the abuse of power and every element of the presidency to try to do something to smear me. … Everybody looked at this and everybody’s looked at it said there’s nothing there. Ask the right question.
The media shouldn’t take Trump’s bait
Donald Trump is hoping the media takes his bait and starts asking Joe Biden questions about conspiracy theories that have already been debunked.
After all, that’s what happened in 2016, when news outlets reported endlessly on the non-scandal involving Hillary Clinton’s emails. It did severe damage to her campaign and Trump is trying to use that strategy on Biden.
Biden wasn’t only correct that Trump is blatantly committing a crime by extorting a foreign government to win an election – something for which he should be investigated – but he reminded the media not to make this another left-versus-right, both-sides debate.
