Donald Trump is in more hot water over his blatantly criminal discussion with the president of Ukraine in which he essentially extorted the country into investigating Joe Biden’s family.
As MSNBC’s Joy Reid noted on Saturday, what could make this scandal different from the one involving Russia is that Mike Pence may be directly implicated as well.
“If Pence … went in knowing why the aid was being held up, went in and spoke to the leader of Ukraine knowing what stick the administration had over them … does he then face the jeopardy of perhaps also being drawn into the questions of impeachment?” Reid asked.
Former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance responded, “If the answer is yes, that Pence was explicitly part of some sort of a scheme to either bribe or extort the Ukrainians then the American people need to know that and Congress needs to take appropriate action.”

REID: Here’s the question for Mike Pence. Mike Pence has been sort of severed from all of the other questions that are relating to potential impeachment for Donald Trump that the House is wrestling with right now. But if Pence, as Natasha said, went in knowing why the aid was being held up, went in and spoke to the leader of Ukraine knowing what stick the administration had over them, and in that way was drawn in to this idea of using that stick to try to get what they wanted from Ukraine, does he then face the jeopardy of perhaps also being drawn into the questions of impeachment?
VANCE: There’s not really any reporting on this yet and that should be really troubling to all of us. Because Pence shows up on your timeline at a key point and we need to know the answer to that question because if the answer is yes, that Pence was explicitly part of some sort of a scheme to either bribe or extort the Ukrainians then the American people need to know that and Congress needs to take appropriate action.
Trump’s band of criminals is working overtime
With 2020 around the corner and Trump worried about the threat former vice president Joe Biden poses to his reelection bid, his band of criminals appears to be working overtime to replicate his 2016 victory.
Trump seems to have realized that he can’t win an election on his own, so he is again digging for more foreign dirt on his opponent to get the job done.
On the front end, Trump’s TV lawyer Rudy Giuliani pressured the Ukrainians about getting damaging information on Biden’s family. Pence is the man driving it home by reminding them about the U.S. military aid Ukraine desperately needs.
As MSNBC’s Joy Reid noted on Saturday, “Giuliani’s out there pitching for dirt, but it’s Pence who’s there to deliver the message about the money.”
Donald Trump is already calling this a “witch hunt,” which is pretty much ironclad proof that he knows he got caught red-handed (again).
But unlike the Russia scandal, the repercussions of this new scheme with Ukraine could be much worse not only because it involves something Donald Trump did while president, but because it could implicate the vice president, too.
