Sen. Chris Murphy Shuts Down Trump’s Laughable Biden Conspiracy In Less Than 60 Seconds

Donald Trump is trying to peddle a new lie meant to smear Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden ahead of the 2020 election, and one Democratic senator didn’t even need a full minute to shut it down.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy reminded viewers that the president is simply making up the allegations against Biden as a way to divert attention away from his latest extortion scandal.

“He’s making up the allegations against the vice president, and I think that’s really important to understand,” the Democratic senator said. “It just shows that they are literally making it up as they go along.”

Sen. Murphy said:

Well, he’s making up the allegations against the vice president, and I think that’s really important to understand. This prosecutor that Biden and the entire world community, the IMF, the G7, all of our European partners were asking to be let go. This prosecutor was corrupt to the bone, and by the way, this prosecutor was not undertaking an investigation or a prosecution of the company that Hunter Biden was associated with, and so there was no investigation to shut down or to stop. Yesterday, Mike Pompeo went on TV and accused Joe Biden of election interference, which is a brand new preposterous charge, I guess, alleging that Biden somehow interfered in the American election in 2016. It just shows that they are literally making it up as they go along.

The media should call Trump’s claim what it is: a lie

By making the ridiculous and already-debunked allegations against Joe Biden, Donald Trump is counting on two things to happen.

First, he knows the red hat crowd that has loyally supported him since he took office, no matter what criminal corruption comes to light, will buy it – no questions asked. In fact, lies like this will only rile up the MAGA mob further.

Second, and most importantly, Trump is counting on the media to do what it too often does: report on Trump’s bogus allegation as if it’s a valid, left-versus-right argument.

But like the science of climate change, this isn’t up for debate. Trump’s allegations against Biden are false – plain and simple. The media should treat them accordingly.
