Trump Is Golfing As Democrats Work Through The Weekend On Impeachment

While Donald Trump spends his Saturday on the golf course, Democrats in Congress are working through the weekend to quickly gather facts and witness testimony in their ongoing impeachment inquiry.

According to Sara Cook, White House producer for CBS News, Trump officially hit the links on Saturday to continue his workless weekend.

Trump’s Saturday golf outing comes after he spent Friday night at the storied Camp David where his family celebrated the wedding anniversary of Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.

As PoliticusUSA’s Jason Easley appropriately noted on Friday, using Camp David to host such a dinner party for his children is a complete departure and reduction from what the location has previously been used for – from high-stakes negotiations to the 2012 G8 Summit.

Democrats can walk and chew gum at the same time

Donald Trump has been tirelessly pushing the narrative that Democrats are the “do nothing” party. The fact that they’re working through the weekend to continue their inquiry is evidence that his juvenile nickname is about as hollow as everything else that comes out of his mouth.

Since taking over the House of Representatives, Democrats have introduced and passed meaningful legislation on a range of important matters, from raising the minimum wage and reforming the campaign finance system to tackling gun violence Iand protecting American elections from Russian interference.

Every step of the way, Republicans in the Senate – led by self-appointed grim reaper Mitch McConnell – have blocked these measures.

There is a do-nothing party in Congress, but it’s not the Democrats – and they have a list of legislative accomplishments, coupled with a thoughtful impeachment inquiry, to show for it.
