On Monday night, Trump warned voters in Fayette County that giving Bevin the boot would “send a really bad message,” as he begged them not to do this to him:

They did it, and in the process showed that impeachment isn’t going to be the great motivator of Republican voters that Trump hoped it would be. Fayette County voters also showed that Trump’s coattails are the length of a piece of toilet paper hanging off of the president’s shoe as he left the men’s room at McDonald’s.
Republicans thought that they were inspiring their voters to get out and vote for Bevin and send a message against Trump’s impeachment. Instead, Trump’s rally appears to have reminded voters to go to the polls and reject their unpopular governor.
Impeachment couldn’t save Matt Bevin, and it is the issue that has debunked the myth of Trump’s electoral motivational powers.
