A new poll of Pennsylvania found that Trump’s approval rating is at 40%, and 57% think he doesn’t deserve reelection.
According to the Morning Call/Muhlenberg College poll:
Six in 10 state voters say Trump is dividing the country and not trustworthy, and more than half say he only cares about himself. And Pennsylvania voters are divided on whether he should be removed from office before next year’s election.
….
Among the field of Democrats seeking to succeed Trump, former Vice President Joe Biden performs the best in a head-to-head match-up, leading Trump 52% to 43%. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren also topped Trump, 50% to 45%, though that result was within the poll’s 6 percentage point margin of error.
….
Among independents, 55% disapprove of Trump’s job performance and 33% approve. Among his fellow Republicans, 79% approve and 17% disapprove, and 92% of Democrats disapprove of Trump’s performance while 7% approve.
Joe Biden, from Scranton, remains the strongest Democratic candidate in Pennsylvania. The state’s
swing voters are centrist, and Biden’s message plays perfectly in the Keystone State. The numbers also reveal that Elizabeth Warren is being plagued by some of the same gender gap issues that harmed Hillary Clinton in Pennsylvania. These numbers are horrible for Trump, and if Biden is the Democratic nominee, the president is going to struggle to win Pennsylvania for a second time. A vast majority of voters want Trump gone, but they aren’t sold on any of the non-Biden Democrats yet.
The overwhelming message in the polling is that Pennsylvania is ready to swing back to the Democrats in 2020.
