House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) notified Trump of his impeachment privileges and gave him until December 6 to exercise them.
According to a statement from the House Judiciary Committee as provided to PoliticusUSA, “Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) sent letters to President Donald Trump and House Judiciary Ranking Member Doug Collins (R-GA) regarding certain privileges afforded to them under House Resolution 660. Chairman Nadler has asked both the President and the Ranking Member to provide notice to the Committee of their intent to exercise these privileges no later than December 6, 2019.”

Chairman Nadler just called Trump’s bluff. Since the impeachment process began, Trump and his Republican allies have been complaining inaccurately about a “secret and closed process.” Trump has also complained on an almost daily basis about being denied “due process” and his “rights.”
Nadler is telling Trump that he is free to participate in impeachment. If Trump turns him down, it will wreck the president’s argument. If Trump accepts, it wrecks his argument.
Trump can participate if he wants, and if he declines, it will say more about his guilt than the impeachment proceedings that Democrats are running.
