Trump wants a long and ugly impeachment trial with witnesses, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is going to go with a fast trial with no witnesses.
Garrett Haake of NBC News reported, “What I am hearing from Republican lawmakers including senators and some house members close to the president that the president is probably not going to get what he wants which is a big show on the Senate floor with witnesses called. The president wants Adam Schiff and Hunter Biden and the whistleblower. There is not much of an appetite for that.”

McConnell and Trump have been arguing over how to move forward with the Senate trial. McConnell has even floated the idea of just doing up or down votes on the articles of impeachment.
