Written Statement From Lawyer Shows Trump Lied About Returning Classified Docs

The existence of the signed declaration, which has not previously been reported, is a possible indication that Mr. Trump or his team were not fully forthcoming with federal investigators about the material.

Trump has a long history of lying to his own attorneys, so it is possible to almost likely that Trump’s lawyer signed the declaration to the DOJ on the basis of a lie told to him by the former president.

Donald Trump knew that the government wanted the documents back, but he believed that the documents were his personal property, so he only gave back some of the classified information, and lied to the DOJ, so that he could hide and keep the rest of it.

The documents didn’t belong to him. They were not his personal property. They were the work product of the United States government, and Donald Trump stole it.

The DOJ has written evidence that Trump attempted to obstruct the recovery of classified materials.
