Brian Kilmeade actually made some solid points, as seen through MAGA-blurred eyes, in asking Trump to hold off on making his presidential announcement during an interview on Fox News:
BRIAN KILMEADE (FOX NEWS HOST) Now with President Trump, I would think the first thing – indication I would look for to see if he was serious about being savvy and being – and recalibrating is if he puts off his announcement Monday.
If he puts up his announcement Monday, it’s putting team first. If he takes his announcement Monday, that’ll show that it’s so Trump-centric. It’s going to be playing to the DeSantis or broad scope – the big jungle primary.
Normally, this wouldn’t even be worth questioning. Trump is Trump-centric in all places and at all times. But Trump has never been weaker and may be looking for some friends in the GOP. He might be willing to play ball on Georgia. (If it matters). Or, it will be Trump’s criminal concerns that carry the day. Announcing his run will not have an impact on Garland’s decision, but Trump believes it matters. Perhaps it does from a perception standpoint.

MARTHA MACCALLUM (FOX ANCHOR): Yeah, a lot of people would like, you know, his supporters would like to see him get all behind Herschel Walker right now in the most helpful way possible,
KILMEADE: It might be by being quiet because in Georgia, he’s not that popular.
Tuesday showed us that “MAGA” is not that popular anymore.
MACCALLUM: It might be being quiet and also to sort of stop the bows and arrows that he’s shooting at DeSantis.
KILMEADE: Right – which is insane because it’s like shooting at somebody because DeSantis is so much like Trump in so many ways, but different enough at 44 years old to offer different attributes and different skill set. So I think that a lot of people are having difficulty when you see them fight with each other that are on the right because they say –they’re – I’d like them both to win.

Trump doesn’t know of any context in which “both win.” To Trump, in life, you win because you beat someone and made them lose. The man who wrote “The Art of the Deal” (He didn’t actually write it, but you know) doesn’t actually do “good deals.” In good deals, both parties win. It’s not a zero-sum game. Trump doesn’t know anything about this.
It will be fun watching whether Trump puts off his announcement if Georgia comes down to control of the U.S. Senate. Many of us still hope that Georgia will be irrelevant with respect to control, just another member to go around Manchin.
