Republicans Are In Disarray And Already Panicked About 2024

It is absolute disarray and chaos in the Republican Party as Senate Republicans are calling for leadership elections to be postponed so they can discuss how to improve their 2024 chances.

Politico reported:

Sens. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Rick Scott (R-Fla.) are circulating a letter pressing colleagues to sign onto a postponement of elections currently scheduled for Wednesday morning. The movement signals growing discontent within the Senate GOP over the increased likelihood the party remains in the minority next year.

“We are all disappointed that a Red Wave failed to materialize, and there are multiple reasons it did not,” the senators say in the letter, first obtained by POLITICO. “We need to have serious discussions within our conference as to why and what we can do to improve our chances in 2024.”

Elsewhere in the party, Kevin McCarthy is facing a mutiny among his House Republican caucus, as some have made it clear that McCarthy does not have the necessary votes to be elected Speaker, and Donald Trump is off in his dark corner of the internet attacking Ron DeSantis in a preview of the 2024 Republican presidential primary.

The Republican Party had convinced itself that a red wave was coming, and when the red wave didn’t arrive, the GOP melted down into a puddle that looks like a mixture of Kevin McCarthy’s tears and Trump’s bronzer.
