Mike Pence talks about 1/6 during his presidential campaign launch.
Mike Pence refused to testify before the 1/6 Committee and he had to be forced to testify by a judge before Jack Smith’s special counsel investigation, but now that he is running for president, Pence is trying to play 1/6 patriot.
Video:
Mike Pence said while formally announcing his presidential campaign:
January 6th was a tragic day in the life of our nation. But thanks to the courage of law enforcement, the violence was quelled and we reconvened the congress the very same day to complete the work of the American people under the constitution of the United States. As I’ve said many times, on that fateful day, President Trump’s words were reckless.
They endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol. But the American people deserve to know that on that day President Trump also demanded that I choose between him and the Constitution. Now voters will be faced with the same choice. I chose the Constitution. And I always will.
Mike Pence was asked to appear before the 1/6 Committee. He did not do so. Mike Pence had to be ordered by a judge to testify before Special Counsel Jack Smith’s federal grand jury investigating Trump and the Capitol attack.
If Mike Pence was a hero, he would have spoken out before the 1/6 attack. A heroic vice president would have stepped before the cameras after the Capitol was attacked and told his story. Pence should have voluntarily testified before the 1/6 Committee and the Special Counsel grand jury.
Mike Pence did none of those things. He wanted until he was a presidential candidate to say anything. Pence is not a patriot. He is a political opportunist who is hoping that the Capitol attack will carry him to the Oval Office.
