As Elections Get Closer, Lies Start Spewing Out of Republicans

Last updated on July 14th, 2012 at 08:35 pm

The election of 2012 is fast-approaching, and there will be refreshing commercials as well as lies on the radio and television as well as on the Internet. The fun thing I like to do is read Twitter. I can read messages from others as they type what is on their minds. Though only 140 words maximum, some comments are enlightening, educating, some are funny and some are downright ridiculous. Then there are the Twits er I mean Tweets from the right. I recently read one which I found interesting

Nope, I’ve been on food stamps before, I waited in the ridiculous lines while people in Escalades and BMWs showed up to collect.

Liberate the USA is a twit and according to:

@LiberateTheUSA

I have become Breitbart, destroyer of nuts and Weiners. My favorite shadowy conservative group is..

Out West

Apparently someone who enjoy destroying legumes and hot dogs. Well, Liberate who apparently hates food stamp was a recipient. No problem there. It’s better to be on food stamps than to starve. This is what socialism is about. But Liberate said that there were people who were receiving their stamps while driving Escalades and BMW. Well, that may be true. People live in them now after the housing bubble popped. In Malibu Ca., there are well-to-do-upper-middle-class folks who now drive the same vehicles they live in. Yes even formerly wealthy folks get hungry too.

But for argument sake, say that Liberate is correct. Say that there is fraud, Why didn’t Liberate report this? Was Liberate lying or was liberate actually seeing people applying for food stamps when they shouldn’t? If liberate was telling the truth, why didn’t Liberate report this? A Connecticut businessman was sentenced last week to fifteen months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, on charges of food-stamp fraud. The man, a convenience store owner, fraudulently redeemed food stamp benefits for cash and other ineligible items for patrons at his store. Food stamp benefits may not lawfully be exchanged for cash under any circumstances. In addition to his sentence, the store owner was ordered to make full restitution to the government in the amount of $94,049.59.

The harsh penalties for food stamp fraud extend to recipients of food stamps as well. A Mississippi man was sentenced Monday to five years in prison after pleading guilty to lying on an application for food stamps. Under the rules of the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, applicants are ineligible to receive food stamp benefits if they have been convicted of a drug-related felony after August 22, 1996. The defendant lied on his application, denying that he had been convicted of such a felony, which made his receipt of food stamps fraudulent. In addition to his five year sentence, the defendant was ordered to pay $2,908 in restitution.

It is a federal offense to fraudulently use food stamps improperly. The above are “incentives” to NOT fraudulently use food stamps. Yet folks like Liberate say blacks use food stamps.

A story written by CBS News :

Gingrich singles out blacks in food stamp remark

According to U.S. Census Bureau, about 28 percent of households that receive food stamps are African American, while 59 percent are white.  According to the same report, about 78 percent of American households are white, while about 12 percent are black. (The overall population is 72.4 percent white and 12.6 percent black.)

So to say that the majority of recipients of food stamps are other than whites is either a liar or or badly misinformed. And to denigrate someone on food stamps, calling them lazy or criminal is downright wrong. Food stamps are used to prevent families from starving. And the accusation comes from the mouth from the Christian right. Funny thing, they criticize and mock the people who are hungry, and folks like Governor Mitt Romney or Catholic Newt Gingrich would love to see people starve. And the people who are on food stamps and welfare, the same Christian right wing Nut Jobs follow their lead…leaving out an important command their god or sky-spook order them to do and that is:

Matthew 25:34-46

King James Version (KJV)

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

I’m starting to believe that atheists, agnostics and the progressive Christians will enter into the Kingdom of heaven. Those on the right? vs. 46.
